Common questions about patch size
How accurate is the preview?
On-item mode shows your artwork in proportion to a standard item, so you can judge scale. Actual-size mode uses your own screen calibration, so it is only as accurate as that quick card match. Final size and placement are confirmed during mockup review.
What is a common patch size for a cap front?
Cap fronts are height-controlled, so the tool works from height first — typically around 2.25″ to 2.75″ tall, with the width following your artwork proportions. Left chest designs commonly sit in a 2.5″ to 4″ working area, and full-back work usually fits inside a 10″ to 14″ envelope. Your artwork shape, the item and the placement all affect the final numbers, so treat these as starting points rather than fixed rules.
Does my artwork get uploaded anywhere?
No. Artwork you add here is analysed in your browser for this preview only. It is never added to the page URL, and nothing is sent to us unless you choose to request a mockup.
Can I use this for embroidery instead of patches?
Yes. Switch the output to embroidery and the preview treats the design as stitched directly on the item, with no patch border around it.
