Screen print color separations, production ready.

From $15

Send us the finished art and the print details. You get back separations your press can actually run.

If you already know your halftone and underbase requirements, tell us and we will follow them. If you do not, that is fine. Every technical question on our form has a Not Sure option, because guessing wrong costs more than asking.

Attach the finished artwork you need separated.

Who this is for

  • Screen printers without separation work in house
  • Shops covering an overflow week
  • Apparel brands whose printer asked for separated films
  • Anyone told their artwork is not print ready

What you get

  • Separated films
  • A color callout sheet
  • Halftone handling where the design requires it
  • Underbase where the garment requires it
  • Exact deliverables confirmed in your quote

What to send us

You do not need all of this. The more you include, the faster your quote comes back.

  • The highest resolution version of the artwork you have
  • Print size in inches
  • Garment color, or the full range if you are printing on several
  • Pantone or ink references if your customer specified them
  • Anything your printer has already told you about the job

If you are missing something, send what you have and note the gap. We would rather ask one question than separate the wrong file.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the finished artwork.

  2. 2

Tell us the print size, garment color, and anything else you already know.

Not Sure is a valid answer to every technical question.

  3. 3

We review it and send your price.

  4. 4

Approve, and separations come back ready to output.

Pricing

From $15. Prices in USD.

Spot color separations on straightforward artwork start at $15. Simulated process, heavy halftone work, and complex multi color jobs are quoted after review.

What affects your price

Two jobs with the same color count can price very differently. These are the things that move the number.

  • How many colors the design actually needs. Not how many it looks like. Counting them properly is part of the job.
  • Spot color or simulated process. Flat spot color separates quickly. Simulated process takes longer, because the halftone work is carrying the blend.
  • Halftones and gradients. Anywhere the artwork fades, blends, or softens, the separation has more to do.
  • Garment color. Printing on black changes the underbase and sometimes the print order.
  • The condition of the file you send. Clean vector artwork separates fast. A flattened JPG has to be rebuilt first, and that is Vector Conversion rather than separation.

If your file needs rebuilding before it can be separated, we will tell you that up front instead of quoting the wrong service.

Color Separation questions

What is color separation?

Colour separation breaks finished artwork into the individual color layers a screen printer needs, one per screen, so each ink lands exactly where it should.

What if I do not know how many colors my design needs?

Send it anyway. Counting the colors is part of the job. Every technical field on our form has a Not Sure option.

Do you handle simulated process separations?

Tell us what the job needs and we will confirm scope and price after reviewing the artwork.

Do I need to tell you the garment color?

It helps a lot. Garment color drives underbase decisions and changes how the inks read. If you do not know yet, say so and we will note it.

What do I actually receive?

Separated films and a color callout sheet at minimum. Exact formats are confirmed in your quote before work begins.

Can you separate artwork you did not create?

Yes. Most separation work comes in from outside artwork. If the file has problems, we will tell you before we start.
