Made for K9 Teams, Trainers & Working Dogs
Custom K9 Patches for Teams, Trainers & Working Dogs
Your K9 patch looks great on screen. Will it work on the harness?
A K9 logo might look sharp on your screen. But when the artwork has tiny lettering, shaded fur and a harness panel that only gives you a few inches to work with, the details matter fast.
At 6Six Needles, we make custom K9 patches for dog-training academies, authorized K9 units, search-and-rescue teams, detection programs and working-dog clubs. Tell us what the patch needs to say, where it will go and how many you need. We'll help you choose the right material, size and backing—then show you a digital mockup before you pay.
- 5-piece minimum
- Digital mockup within 24 hours
- No setup fees
- Real sample photo before the full run
We make custom patches—not dog harnesses, uniforms or official identification credentials.

Your Team Isn't Generic. Your Patch Shouldn't Be Either.
One dog. One handler. One training school. Lots of ways to get the patch wrong.
Maybe it's a unit crest that belongs on a handler's sleeve. Maybe it's a training academy logo for twenty instructors. Maybe it's a name strip for a harness with a very specific loop panel.
They're all K9 patches, but they don't all need the same construction. That's why we start with your actual artwork and where you plan to put it—not a one-size-fits-all patch recommendation.
Dog Training Schools, Academies & Institutes
Your instructors teach consistency. Their patches should look consistent, too.
Training-school crests, academy logos, instructor patches, board-and-train staff apparel and event patches all work best when the logo reads clearly at the finished size. Ordering matching staff patches? We'll help you keep the artwork consistent and quote any different titles or names separately.
A dog-name strip isn't the same as an academy crest. For harness identifiers, shorter, simpler lettering often wins. Send the measured loop panel and name list rather than estimating from an online harness photo.

Authorized Police K9 Units & Handlers
A unit emblem carries identity. It also carries responsibility.
We can create custom patches from agency-authorized artwork for handler uniforms, carriers, dog harnesses and team merchandise. Whether you're ordering a classic embroidered emblem or a more detailed printed design, let us know the approved artwork, required colors and intended placement. We do not create or sell official credentials, and any protected insignia requires the rights holder's authorization.

Search-and-Rescue K9 Teams
Field gear has one job. Your patch can't get in the way of it.
Team logos can look great on handler jackets, bags and compatible harness panels—but nothing should cover a buckle, reflective component, handle or attachment point. We can help with artwork and patch sizing; your equipment manufacturer or team should confirm gear compatibility and safe placement.

Detection, Scent-Work & Tracking Teams
Some logos tell a bigger story than one paw print.
A tracking-dog portrait, a layered landscape, a training-program name or a detailed crest may all matter to your team. Our job is to review your actual artwork, explain what reproduces well and recommend an honest way forward. The adjacent image is an illustrative K9 UNIT uniform-patch concept, not proof of a dog's real assignment or certification.

Working-Dog Clubs, Kennels & Sport Teams
Small club? That doesn't mean generic gear.
Ask about patches for competition apparel, club jackets, staff polos, training bags or event merchandise. We can work from a logo, a clean artwork file or a rough idea—and confirm the design variations and quantities needed for your order.
Working-dog club and team patches may need separate sizes for handler clothing and compatible harnesses. The picture is an illustrative concept.

Highly Detailed K9 Artwork? Here's Why We Often Recommend Sublimation.
An amazing dog portrait can lose its personality when every color has to become a stitch.
Many K9 customers bring us artwork with shaded fur, layered backgrounds, photographs, tiny details and several color transitions. For artwork like that, we often recommend printed / sublimated patches. Sublimation can preserve complex colors and gradients on a smooth fabric face without trying to imitate every little detail with embroidery thread.
But here's the important part: it's a recommendation, not a rule. If you prefer woven, embroidered or PVC, we're happy to work with your choice and tell you what might need adjusting to get a good finished result.
The Guardian K9 illustration shows a printed-style face with a stitched edge. No actual customer affiliation is implied.

Printed / Sublimated K9 Patches — When the Details Are the Point
Photo-like portraits? Color gradients? A multi-layered landscape? This is where printing usually earns its place. Expect a flatter printed textile surface; a merrowed/embroidered edge, when specified, does not make the whole face an embroidered patch. We will confirm how fine lettering, contrast and final size reproduce before approval. See printed patches.
Embroidered K9 Patches — When You Want the Threads to Show
Want the thread texture to be the star? Bold dog silhouettes, clear block lettering, simple insignias and classic club crests look strong with raised thread. Fine gradients and photographic fur are less suitable; some simplification may be needed. See our custom embroidered patches.
Woven K9 Patches — When the Lettering Is the Hard Part
Long academy name? Tiny motto? Fine linework? Woven threads can reproduce compact details on a flatter finish than standard embroidery, though every design still has a physical readability limit. See woven patches.
PVC K9 Patches — When You Want a Molded, Wipe-Clean Finish
Bold shapes look great in molded relief. PVC is useful for simplified logos, short words and high-contrast emblems on compatible gear. It is not usually the ideal choice for a photographic dog portrait or very tiny print. See PVC patches.
The choice is yours. We'll give you a recommendation based on your art, not force you into a material you don't want.
Will It Fit Your Dog's Harness? Check This First.
The outside of the harness isn't the same as the usable patch panel. That's the measurement that saves the most headaches.
Before ordering, check four things:
- Measure the loop panel. Record usable width and height, leaving out stitching, rounded corners and gaps.
- Check the attachment surface. Hook-backed patches need an actual compatible loop receiver; a plain nylon harness isn't the same thing.
- Keep equipment functional. Leave buckles, straps, handles, reflective areas and moving parts unobstructed.
- Confirm each placement. A harness name patch and a handler sleeve patch may require completely different finished dimensions.
A short rectangular name strip may suit one harness; a round academy crest may belong on apparel instead. There is no universal K9 patch size. Standard published package pricing applies to patches up to four inches on the longest side; larger or unusual specifications receive a custom quote. See the patch size chart.

Which Backing Makes Sense?
Hook-and-loop
Good when a patch needs to come off or a name or role may change, provided your gear has a compatible loop panel. Current listed hook-and-loop surcharge: $0.30 per patch, subject to live checkout and spec confirmation.
Sew-on
Useful for permanent placement on suitable clothing or bags. Do not stitch through harness load-bearing parts, coated seams or waterproof layers without the equipment maker's approval.
Heat seal / iron-on
Only for verified heat-compatible garments—not a default recommendation for nylon dog harnesses, synthetic straps or molded components.
Why We Don't Put Every Customer's K9 Patch on Display
Some designs are more than artwork. They belong to a team.
K9 designs can include identifying details, team marks, memorial artwork or branding that a customer would rather keep private. We respect that. This page uses illustrative K9 concepts, not customer designs presented as public portfolio pieces.
Want to see real production examples? Email info@6sixneedles.com and tell us the patch style you're considering. We'd be glad to discuss real examples we have permission to share, subject to availability. We will not send another customer's confidential artwork just to make a sale.
Your own artwork deserves the same care. Tell us if your design or order needs additional restrictions on public sharing. We will confirm what's possible before proceeding; this statement is not a substitute for a signed confidentiality agreement.
Small Team or Full Academy? Start With Five Custom Patches.
You don't need a hundred handlers to place a custom order. Our published minimum for custom patch types is five pieces. A matching set of academy patches, a trainer's first batch or a larger team run can all begin with the same mockup process.
Current standard embroidered pricing for patches up to four inches on the longest side (standard backing):
| Quantity | Embroidered total | Per patch |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | $80 | $16.00 |
| 25 | $120 | $4.80 |
| 50 | $165 | $3.30 |
| 100 | $220 | $2.20 |
Current printed / sublimated package examples (standard size/backing): 25 for $120, 50 for $165 and 100 for $220. Exact pricing for a five-piece printed run, variable names, larger shapes, nonstandard sizes, backing or unusual specifications must be confirmed through the live calculator or a custom quote. These totals cover patches, not uniforms, harnesses or installation.
See It Before You Pay. Approve the Real Sample Before the Full Run.
The last place you want to spot a misspelled name is in a finished box of patches. Here's how 6Six Needles orders work.
1. Send the artwork and details.
Upload your K9 logo or sketch. Tell us the placement, dimensions, quantity, material preference and backing. Name variations should be listed up front for accurate pricing.
2. Review your digital mockup.
We prepare your proof, generally within 24 hours. Check the spellings, border, colors and details. You don't pay until you approve the digital mockup.
3. Approve a real physical sample photo.
After payment, we produce a physical sample and send you a photo of that sample to approve before the full run. This does not mean a physical sample is mailed to you before payment.
4. Full production and tracked shipping.
Standard production is 10–14 business days after sample approval, followed by tracked shipping. Timing is an estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date. If your academy graduation, trial or event has a deadline, tell us before ordering.
Have these ready: artwork or sketch, finished dimensions or usable loop-panel dimensions, quantity and name variations, preferred material/backing, and date needed. Not sure which patch type fits? Try the Patch Advisor.
K9 Patch Questions? Here's the Short Version.
Can you make custom patches for dog training institutes or academies?
Yes. We create academy crests, instructor/team logo patches, program and event patches from your supplied design. Names and separate art variations are quoted based on the actual specifications.
Do you make custom K9 patches for police canine units?
Yes, using authorized artwork. Agency seals and protected insignia require appropriate permission. A custom patch is not an official credential.
Why might you recommend sublimated patches for K9 designs?
Detailed dog portraits, shadows, fine color transitions and complex backgrounds generally reproduce more faithfully on a printed fabric face than as individual embroidery stitches. We'll look at your actual artwork before recommending it.
Can I choose embroidered, woven or PVC even if you recommend sublimated?
Yes. It's your patch. We'll explain what each construction can and can't reproduce at your requested size. If the design needs simplifying, we'll tell you before production.
Are the images on this page real customer orders?
No. The page's visuals are illustrative concepts. To ask about genuine examples we have permission to share, contact info@6sixneedles.com.
Do you make custom hook-and-loop patches for dog harnesses?
Yes, when the finished size and backing suit the equipment. Measure the usable loop surface, not the outside of the harness. Hook backing does not adhere to plain nylon without a compatible loop receiver.
What is the minimum order and how do I get a price?
The current published custom-patch minimum is five pieces. Cost depends on material, finished size, quantity, backing and variations. Our existing quote page shows published pricing and custom quote options.
Can I request a patch with every dog's name different?
Yes, ask for a customized quote and send the name list. Don't assume multiple unique names cost the same as identical patches.
Do you provide service-dog identification or certification?
No. A patch doesn't create legal service-animal status or government authorization. Under U.S. ADA rules, service dogs are not required to wear an identifying vest, patch or special ID (ADA service animal FAQ).
How long until my order arrives?
Digital mockups are generally provided within 24 hours. After mockup approval and payment, a real sample photo must be approved; standard production is 10–14 business days after that sample approval. Shipping follows, so ask us about your actual deadline.
