Pieces in a typical set

How a set is arranged varies from club to club — the layout below is a description of common pieces, not a rule. Tell us how your club lays out a vest and we build the mockup to that.

Center piece

The main artwork on the back of the vest. Usually the largest piece in the set and quoted individually.

Top rocker

A curved band above the center piece, most often carrying the club name.

Bottom rocker

A curved band below the center piece. Matched to the top rocker in arc, height and lettering.

Side and small patches

Front-of-vest marks: position, years, routes, events.

Name patches

One line per member. Same size and typeface, different text on each piece.

Large back sets and sizing

Instant pricing runs up to 4 inches on the longest side, which covers name and small front patches. Center pieces and rockers are almost always larger, so send the finished width and height of each piece and we quote the set as one job. Print the layout at full size and hold it against the vest before approving — the actual size visualizer and the size chart both help.

Keeping a set consistent

  • Border style and width are locked once, then reused on every piece in the set.
  • Lettering is set from one typeface and stroke weight so rockers and name patches match.
  • Thread colors are recorded by code, so a reorder next year matches the first run.
  • Rocker arc and height are specified against the center piece rather than measured by eye.
  • Your approved production artwork stays on file for repeat and add-on orders.

Constructions used for club sets

Embroidered

The standard for club sets. Heavy coverage, strong borders, durable on leather and denim.

Embroidered patches

Woven

Finer lettering when a long club name has to fit a narrow rocker.

Woven patches

Leather

Debossed leather for name and small front pieces on leather vests.

Leather patches

Sew it, don't iron it

Vest and jacket pieces should be sewn. Heat adhesive does not bond dependably to treated leather, and a large back piece needs stitching around the full perimeter to stay flat over years of wear. A vest shop or a heavy-duty machine handles this quickly.

Club set questions

Can you make multi-piece patch sets?

Yes. Center pieces, top and bottom rockers, side patches and name patches can be produced together so borders, colors and lettering match across the whole set.

Can I reorder matching patches later?

Yes. Your approved artwork, thread colors and dimensions stay on file, so an added member or a replacement piece is produced to the same specification.

Can I submit existing artwork?

Yes, as long as you own it or are authorized to use it. We do not reproduce another organization's protected insignia.

Can I order different names in one run?

Yes. Send the name list with the artwork; each name is produced as its own piece to a shared template.

What backing works best for vests?

Sew-on. It is the only attachment that holds through wind, weather and years of wear on leather or denim. Hook-and-loop suits pieces you expect to move between garments.

What if my patch is larger than 4 inches?

Instant pricing covers up to 4 inches on the longest side. Back pieces and full rockers are usually larger, so they follow the custom quote path with your exact finished sizes.

What is the minimum order?

Every custom patch type starts at 5 pieces: embroidered, woven, printed, chenille, leather, PVC and glow-in-the-dark PVC. Larger quantities simply lower your per-piece price.
