Backing options
Hook-and-loop
The standard for gear. The hook side is sewn to the patch so it attaches to loop panels on plate-style carriers, packs and caps. It carries a small per-patch surcharge.
Sew-on
Permanent placement on jackets, vests and uniforms. The strongest option for anything laundered often.
Iron-on
Convenient on cotton and denim. Treat it as positioning help rather than a permanent bond on heavy-use gear.

Durability in the field
- Merrowed or heat-cut edges keep embroidery from fraying with repeated removal and re-attachment.
- PVC resists water, mud and UV better than thread, which makes it the safer pick for gear that lives outdoors.
- Subdued color palettes hold up visually as fabric fades; high-contrast palettes stay readable longer at distance.
- Hook-and-loop wears at the hook, not the patch, so a worn panel is usually the panel and not the artwork.
Size and shape
Instant pricing applies up to 4 inches on the longest side. Anything larger — a full back piece, for example — follows the custom quote path instead. Print your artwork at real size before you commit; a design that reads well on screen often loses its smallest text at 2 inches.

What patch type works best for tactical gear?
PVC for wet, dirty or abrasive conditions, embroidered for the traditional look, woven when small text must stay readable. All three take hook-and-loop backing.
Can I order hook-and-loop backing?
Yes, on every patch construction we make. It is a small per-patch surcharge and is priced in the calculator with the rest of your order.
Can you reproduce my unit-style artwork?
We reproduce artwork you supply and own or are authorized to use. We do not produce official insignia or anything requiring government or service authorization.
What is the minimum order?
Every custom patch type starts at 5 pieces: embroidered, woven, printed, chenille, leather, PVC and glow-in-the-dark PVC. Larger quantities simply lower your per-piece price.
Can I order only 5 patches?
Yes. 5 pieces is the real minimum, not a teaser. Larger runs simply lower your per-piece price.
Can patches be made in PVC?
Yes. PVC is molded to your shape, supports multiple layers of depth and takes hook-and-loop the same way embroidery does.
What sizes are common for gear?
Chest and panel marks usually run 2 to 3.5 inches, name strips around 1 by 4 inches. Instant pricing covers anything up to 4 inches on the longest side; larger sizes get a custom quote.
How does approval work?
You review and approve your free digital mockup before paying. After payment, we make a real sample and send you a photo of it to approve before the full production run begins.
